I think this dream took place in early September.

In this dream, I was in a building that looked kind of like a big train station(like Shinjuku). I went up onto one of the "platforms" and I found that there were a bunch of ropes suspended over a huge pit.  There were people standing and hanging onto the ropes.  I decided to climb down onto the ropes to meet them, carefully.  When I asked one of them why they were doing this, he explained that people who did, and were judged "worthy" would be granted special magical powers.  He said that you had to think of 5 special shapes and concentrate very hard on the shapes. 

At this point, he got sucked into the abyss below.  Apparently, he had been judged unworthy by whatever forces were at work here.  I decided that it might be in my best interest if I tried to concentrate along, considering how unpleasant the alternative was.

I thought of a triangle, square, circle, cube and something else.  I forgot what the 5th shape was, this becomes important later on in the dream.  Then I noticed that people were being sucked into the abyss left and right.  I started concentrating like crazy on the symbols.  After some time, people stopped getting sucked down into the pit.  The people who were still alive were celebrating like crazy, realizing that they were still alive and now had the special power.

I walked out of the place, and I decided to try out the powers I had been granted.  I managed to shoot force bolts from my had and fly around a bit.

We were told to return later, and recite the sacred shapes.  I was in deep shit, because I couldn't remember what I had used for my last shape. 

I went back the first time, and they said that we only had to recite the first sacred shape.  Thankfully, I remembered that the first sacred shape had been a triangle.  So I was safe for the first round. 

Anyway, I was contemplating what horrible fate was going to befall me, when the dream ended.

Pretty scary stuff.  It was cool to have special powers, though.
