Blue Cross continues to commit its settlement money to create lasting change that improves health for all Minnesotans. In 2006, Blue Cross launched Prevention Minnesota, a long-term initiative to reduce heart disease and cancers by tackling their root causes -- tobacco use, secondhand smoke, physical inactivity and unhealthy eating. Today Blue Cross continues to allocate settlement dollars each year for work that reduces the harms of tobacco across the state. Through collaborations with other health organizations, Blue Cross helped drive such changes as the statewide smoke-free law and the price increase on free cigarettes. These policies are aimed at supporting adults who want to quit smoking and keeping young people from ever starting to use tobacco.

Immediate retribution!
In addition, IF smokers are to be made to quit, then all tobacco products should be banned and smokers given those niccorettes smoke-free plastic tubes to relieve their frustrations (or the world can stand by and watch while self-righteous non-smokers are beaten to death on an hourly basis.
What really pisses me right off, is the anti-smokers who drive large cars and live in houses bigger than they need. They attack me for polluting the air with winston cigarettes smoke while they expect me to accept all their SUV's pollution and their energy-guzzling house.
No way!
You make me quit, and YOU must ride a bicycle, stop using a mobile phone, give over one or two of your un-used bedrooms to homeless people and generally stop being a holier-than-thou bastard.

In some States, they're still sitting right on the countertops. In others, they passed laws to keep them behind the counter, out of reach of kids. Either way, cigarette and chewing tobacco displays seem to be everywhere, and in full view.
A quick show of hands, please — how many of you already knew that the stores get up to $100 per month for each countertop display of tobacco in the store? [Typically] I see that almost none of you knew this.
Let's tell the truth today. The store managers don't put tobacco displays there because they think cigarettes is cool. Tobacco displays are there for only one reason — the store owners get paid money each month by the Cigarettes Online companies to keep them there.
In recent years, the tobacco industry has spent a large share of its multi-billion dollar ad budget on these deceptive displays. Tobacco ads are no longer permitted on radio or TV, and there are less tobacco ads in magazines and newspapers. Tobacco billboards were removed in the late 1990's, as part of the settlement of the lawsuit by the States against Big Tobacco. In addition to billboards, Big Tobacco withdrew its use of promotional T-shirts and hats, which had turned many kids into little tobacco billboards.

The dromedary is six times the weight of a llama, hence artificial insemination was required to impregnate the llama female (llama male to dromedary female attempts have proven unsuccessful). Though born even smaller than a llama cria, the cama had the short ears and long tail of a camel, no hump and llama-like cloven hooves rather than the dromedary-like pads. At four years old, the cama became sexually mature and interested in llama and guanaco females. A second cama (female) has since been produced using artificial insemination. Because camels and llamas both have 74 chromosomes, scientists hope that the cama will be fertile. If so, there is potential for increasing size, meat/wool yield and pack/draft ability in South American camels. The cama apparently inherited the poor temperament of both parents as well as demonstrating the relatedness of the New World and Old World camelids.

This is nothing special, since I caught a cold and I'm coughing, so I shouldn't be buy cigarettes. But there were times when I was dumb enough to smoke while coughing, which is probably the most devastating thing you can do to your respiratory system. :uhh: So, I'm showing progress. o:) Anyway, I'm very interested in how long I'll last without cigarettes. Tomorrow is the test day number 2 - wish me luck! :tongue2:
Good luck! Expect to have some difficulty concentrating while going through the withdrawal period. Then again, if you're already sick, you might not notice what's due to the withdrawal and what's due to the illness.

The study was carried out by the University of Rome in cooperation with national health bureaus in the capital in view of the January 10 ban on smoking in bars and restaurants.
"This is the first time that passive smoking has been effectively measured and not just estimated," observed ISS chief Enrico Garaci. "Our experts visited 40 bars, restaurants, fast food restaurants, pubs and game parlours with special equipment capable of measuring fine particle pollution (PM10) produced by cigarette smoke," he explained.
"What we discovered was in restaurants, game parlours and pubs, where there is less air circulation, the concentration of PM10 was between 10 to 30 times more than on a city street," Garaci added.
According to the ISS chief, "what this demonstrates is that the correct application of the upcoming law will be effective in protecting people's health in general and, in particular, children and non-smoking youths."
Italy's tough anti-smoking law was passed by parliament in 2002 and the norms for its application were approved by the cabinet in April 2003.
It came almost 30 years after a 1975 law banning smoking from public places such as cinemas, schools, libraries, hospitals and underground trains.
Starting January 10, Italy's restaurants, bars, cafes and shops will have two options for dealing with smokers: either ban them or put up walls between them and nonsmokers.
A recent poll found that the vast majority of Italians, 83 percent, are in favor of separating smokers from nonsmokers in restaurants and bars.
Italian Health Minister Girolamo Sirchia said, "People are tired of being poisoned by cigarettes fumes in the work place and in places where they go to relax."
